At Clevyr, we love a good themeâand when October rolls around, itâs time for spooky stories, cult classics, and family favorites that make this season a little more magical (or horrifying, depending on your taste).
We asked our team to share their favorite Halloween moviesâeverything from cozy fall nostalgia to space horror. Hereâs what they picked:
đ» The Nightmare Before Christmas
Chosen by: Geena Jackson
Genre: Family / Animation / Musical
Why We Love It: âA timeless family-friendly classic. The music is fantastic, the plot is whimsical and fun, and the animation set the standard for stop-motion movies.â
Where to Watch: Disney+ (and probably every channel playing Halloween movies right now)
đ” âThis is Halloween, this is HalloweenâŠâ đ”
If thatâs not stuck in your head now, youâre stronger than we are.
đ Event Horizon
Chosen by: Chris Fritz
Genre: Sci-Fi Horror / Thriller (definitely not for kids)
Why We Love It: âI saw bits of it as a kidâthat was not the right time to watch it. Itâs gory and terrifying, but the plot is amazing and the atmosphere is unmatched.â
Where to Watch: Rent on YouTube or Amazon Prime, or free on Pluto TV.
If you like Dead Space, Alien, or that unsettling âsomethingâs-wrong-in-spaceâ feeling, this oneâs for you.
đŻïž Waxwork
Chosen by: Anne Saunders
Genre: Horror / Comedy (also definitely not for kids)
Why We Love It: âCollege kids get trapped in a creepy wax museum with a strange owner and stranger exhibits. Itâs the right kind of â80s campy gore, with a bunch of classic monsters and a cast old-school horror fans will recognize from other genre âclassicsâ.â
Where to Watch: Watch with ads on Tubi or Plex, rent or buy on Amazon Prime Video.
If you like Evil Dead or Reanimator - silly, self-referential horror movies where you know the cast and crew had a good time making it - this oneâs a solid pick. It even has a sequel!
đ”ïžââïž Brooklyn Nine-Nine: The Halloween Heists
Chosen by: Erich Keil & Geena Jackson
Genre: Comedy / TV
Why We Love It: âThe heist episodes are ridiculous and over-the-top in the best way. They became an annual tradition we looked forward to.â
Where to Watch: Netflix (Seasons 1â4) or Peacock (the rest).
These episodes might not be scary, but theyâre proof that Halloween doesnât need a jump scare to be iconic.
đ§ââïž Honorable Mention: Community, Season 2, Episode 6 â âEpidemiologyâ
Chosen by: Anne Saunders
Genre: Comedy / TV
Why We Love It: Zombie outbreak + ABBA soundtrack + college chaos = Halloween perfection.
Where to Watch: Watch with ads on Tubi or Plex, or on Peacock with a subscription.
đžïž The Takeaway
Whether youâre into jump scares, stop-motion, or sitcom shenanigans, we can all agree that the best Halloween stories are the ones we share.
Now turn off the lights, grab your favorite candy, and queue up something spooky!
From all of us at ClevyrâHappy Halloween! đ»
