How Does Growth-Driven Web Design Work?

Traditional Website Design Process
The current - and frankly broken - system of building websites approaches web design as if it were a real bricks-and-mortar construction: there is a lot of expense up front, with architects, engineers and designers dreaming up concepts that usually land above and beyond your budget. Then the workers - in this case designers, writers and programmers - take a long time to lay the website out and set it up.
Finally, when every T is crossed and every I is dotted, you launch your website to the world, pretty much like opening the doors of a shop or restaurant, and you pray that the customers like it and that it maximizes revenue. And then, two or three years later, you start it all over again to renovate.

A New Website Design Process
But Growth Driven web design is not at all like constructing a real, bricks-and-mortar building. You don’t have to create it all at once, you can change it on the fly, you can change directions and styles and functionalities depending on what your customers actually want and like and buy.
Growth Driven Design means that you can start with the very basics: for example a homepage, some contact info, maybe some attractive photographs of your product or service. Your customers start asking for an option to book your services online, so you add that. Then they request more photos of your options and more information about your team. So you add that. Then you decide to branch out into another part of the State. So you add THAT.
How Does Web Design Using Growth Driven Design Work?
The growth and development of the website responds to your customers’ feedback and requests and your business needs. And since you are constantly adding and refining your website, there is not a huge expense up front - instead you will make a long series of very affordable payments while staying in control of your web design and growth.
"There is a better way, a new way to approach your website that holds tremendous potential for you and your business. It’s time to take a step back and challenge the assumptions of the traditional web design process." - Luke Summerfield, HubSpot

The Invisibility of Good Design
The Paradox of Good Design Good design often goes unnoticed. Think about walking up to a door. If it opens smoothly as you pull the handle, you barely think about it. You just walk through. But if the design is unclear and you push when you should have pulled, suddenly all your attention shifts to the door. The experience that should have been effortless becomes awkward and frustrating. The best design moments rarely announce themselves—they simply work. When they don’t, you notice immediately. That’s the paradox of good design. When it works, it feels invisible. When it doesn’t, it stands in your way.
