The Code Boss In Action

Recently, the Teen Librarian at the Village Library in Oklahoma City reached out to Aaron requesting his help to judge projects for their Coding Club. The Coding Club reaches local youth who are eager to learn coding and computer programming skills, and use those skills to create their own games and projects! The library loans the youth Chromebooks and Wifi hotspots for self-guided learning between sessions. This program is made possible by a grant from Google.
The students were ages 8-13 and built projects using Scratch, a software program that helps young people learn to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively — essential skills for life in the 21st century.
Unlike past years, the Village Library was unable to proceed with in-person judging due to the pandemic and opted for an online video format. The teens presented their coding projects, and Aaron provided detailed feedback on improvements and unique features, he also answered questions about being a software developer.
Aaron is also a very active Techlahoma volunteer, watch the Twitch video of his "Intro to Programming" lesson at the Free Code Camp in Oklahoma City. Techlahoma provides Oklahomans free in-person and online technical training, networking opportunities, and teaching experiences through workshops, conferences, and monthly user group meetups.
